The space
This is not for guests seeking a developed condo like experience. It’s an adventure, more like “glamping” but with added comforts. Stand under the Grand Palapa, better yet, sleep under it and feel totally at one with the universe. Then wake to birdsong, take a morning dip in the pool and have your breakfast with a view of the jungle, or the beach, perhaps even spotting a whale. Water and green as far as you can see in any direction. Daytime skies filled with birds, and nighttime with stars, more than we've ever seen. The Pacific with occasional fishing pangas and whales in season.
What used to be 4 acres of mango plantation now contains 8 buildings, that sleep up to 12 people in 6 separate rooms. 5 toilets, 4 indoor showers and 2 outdoor. There are 3 areas that each can allow 12 to practice their Yoga. A pool for after, or before. More places to find solitude than you can dream of. A kitchen with gas burners, refrigerator and wood burning pizza oven and grilling area up top and another kitchen area with just refrigerator and grilling area under a pergola pool side. The caretaker family is Spanish speaking only, but very sweet and amenable. They maintain, clean, and provide security. We have a concierge on call to help with other needs. Great cell service (we’re the highest domicile for miles.) A gorgeous almost private beach with a small eco-hotel is a 25 minute walk downhill. Lunch/dinner can be booked at the beach hotel.
Caita Nik has 2 twin beds, mosquito nets, ceiling fans and a view of the pool.
Casa Azul Sur, has a large master bath with rain shower, it's own terrace and sitting area. Fully air-conditioned. Large built in wardrobes, mini-fridge and electric kettle for tea/coffee in the room. 2 twin beds can be adjusted to 1 queen size.
Indoor and outdoor showers for apres sun and surf.
Sunrise peeking through the queen canopy bed in the open air suite in the grand palapa.
Casa Azul Norte, has a large master bath with rain shower and it's own terrace and sitting area. Fully air-conditioned. Large built in wardrobes, mini-fridge and electric kettle for tea or coffee in the room.
Guest access
The 4+ acres of the property consist of a mango plantation surrounded by hills. All but our caretaker's home is accessible to our guests. The cabanas are separated by paved jungle paths, but access to a few of them could be tough if pushing a heavy adult in a wheel chair. The property is not recommended for families with newborns, as it is 15 minutes away from the closest hospital and pharmacy, and has no microwave oven for baby bottles.
Interaction with guests
We have a family that lives on the property, they maintain, clean once a day, and provide security. For an extra charge they can provide yummy pozole and a few simple dishes. We have a concierge on call to help with other needs, including connecting to a terrific Mexican cook for simple but delicious catering. Great cell service (we’re the highest domicile for miles) puts us just a phone call away.
Other things to note
The kitchens are outdoors and “glamping style”. We have large grills, gas burning ranges, refrigerators, and a woodburning clay pizza oven, all with great views. But no regular baking oven and no microwave ovens. No wifi except through cell phone service. The swimming pool is eco style, very lightly chlorinated and surfaced with polished concrete design with an uneven color treatment (which we think looks very cool) not regular tile. The 5 bedrooms are spread out in nature, not all right next to each other, 2 and 2 are together and one is in the main palapa, a 2 minute walk up a slope to the top of the ridge.
